street art

I gave a talk at WhereCamp Portland over the weekend, talking for about an hour about art, public space, and urban planning. I wanted to start a discussion about how we view commissioned versus guerrilla art here in Portland, and compare it to other cities on the West Coast.

I was sick the week-and-a-half before the presentation, so I didn’t quite properly prepare everything I wanted to talk about (because, really, I could talk for days and show thousands of photos I’ve taken over the years, plus be able to link to dozens and dozens of articles on street art), but I got a good turnout and had a fun discussion with the audience.

I’ll definitely have to keep working on this — especially the map — and do an update post soon.
